    Hello everyone

My Indesit fridge/freezer, single compressor is running too cold and intermediately freezes veggies. There is a layer of frost on the back wall which sometimes goes anyway with auto defrost but never completely. I have replaced the thermostat and defrost the freezer but no change. Temp is the freezer goes down to -30C on the warmest setting! Compressor doesn’t work continuously.
I can’t see any obvious problem with the door seals.

    Any idea, anyone?
    Thanks

Press the wet wall at the back of the fridge to see if there is any movement .

If the wet wall at the back has come away from the evaporator then it will not operate the thermostat correctly.

Or the compressor is not pumping correctly or low on refrigerant.

    Hi Bob,

The wet wall coming off might be the problem. It really acts as if the thermostat probe wasn’t sensing the temp properly. I’ll look at it over the coming weekend.
Thanks for the advice, I’ll report back.

I’ve checked the wet wall AND all was well. To be sure, I cut the insulation to see the location of the probe and it was well secured. I can only assume that the circuit is low on refrigerant. I have located the probe tip a bit higher and the fridge now runs at normal temperature.
Being a 15years old fridge, is it worth recharging?
    Thanks
