Hotpoint FFQ48W fridge frezer

Hi everyone, just registered today to see if anyone can help with my Hotpoint FFQ48W F/F, I had to turn the unit off a couple of weeks ago to go through the old defrost routine (also did it a couple of years ago) from ice build up in freezer. Since then the whole display disappeared then after the 8 mins (instruction book) it reappeared the whole display keeps pulsing on /off till it steadies then I can re-set the time/date, this is ok for a period of time then same thing happens, I have noticed that when it is flashing I cannot do any adjustment till the compressor kicks in then it will allow me. I thought the problem may be on the display pcb so I have changed this (I am an electronics engineer) from one I was left with by a Hotpoint engineer when under ‘G’ this does work ok as it was a failed repair attempt to rectify time gaining. Any ideas from your good selves would be greatly appreciated as the unit is still in pristine condition. G.
