he has the above machine which he keeps getting a recall to every few weeks :rolls:
Machine will work fine for approx three weeks and then for no reason will pop the thermal limiter. He can reset this and then a few weeks later same again.
He has Replaced the limiter and NTC, there are no blockages anywhere, condenser, heater and fan are all okay.Has anyone seen this before? help please.

It’s tricky with these Smeg jobs to be certain the system is blockage free or that the fan sticks on occasion. Outside of that the most obvious is customer turning it off before cool down. (How can you really be sure they or a member of their family hasn’t switched it off?)And sometimes the heating element can distort and lay against the limiter almost touching it.

Check the duct from the heater box to the door gasket, fluff builds up on the ntc and on the duct strengthening bars.

Tbh , I very much dislike these machines ! The condenser is prone to getting badly blocked and can be a pain to get to and clear . The fans also get blocked causing bad air flow. The inner airway where the dryer element sits can get fluffed up including the face of the temp limiter.
There is a fluff clean programme normally ignored by the customer even though a symbol appears on the display to remind them it needs carrying out. The earlier models were worse as the fluff clean was both to short on time and not a high enough water level. This was improved in later models but still not brilliant. -
