Sometimes the fan on the dryer doesn’t come on and it will trip the overheat thermostat. Has anyone come across this problem and fixed it?

Defo sounds like faulty fan motor but could also be a loose fan assy slipping on the motor shaft or even more likely a blocked fan assy
As soon as airflow is compromised that stat will trip as designed
Check you have a constant 240v to motor even when stops which if you have then you know you can strip down and investigate the points I mentioned
