Hi,
I am no engineer, but I do have experience of DIY repairs on a variety of appliances.
I have a Baumatic BTWM5 which needs its bearings replacing, I have ordered the two bearings and the bearing seal, I have been advised that I don’t need a drum seal for this model.
With time, I am sure I would be able to find my way into the bearings, but I would be grateful if someone with experience of working on this model could give me some advice on the best approach so I can avoid unnecessary disassembling.Thanks in anticipation.

This post is getting on so I presume you`ve done it or given up! If not. From memory the front panel does not separate from the the rest of the chassis so the only way is to dismantle the thing as much as you can and then lay the machine on its side and pull the whole tank out as there`s no easy way-stupid design, they`re not alone! Why not a new tank seal required? Maybe obsolete but if still in one piece after you`ve taken the tank front clips off you could use silicon sealant on the spongey tank seal. Have a really good look at the bearing spider its at that age when they have cracked or starting to crack. Best of luck with it.

Just noticed this one.Yes it is a tank out job and the tank front is removed.
You will need a oil seal and also 2 bearings and possible front tank seal.
BUT.. If this machine is less than 5years old which I suspect then the parts would be supplied FOC and the labour only would be chargeable and that is approx £135 and you would need to contact Hoover Candy to progress that as it must be done by a Hoover engineer or Authorised service centre. ( Hopefully you won’t be in my catchment area).
