I need some advice on replacing the element in this please. The replacement element has different contact so I don’t know where some go.

The old element is as per diagram. The replacement is below it.
    Thank you
    Dave

This diagram shows the comparative contacts between the different makes….

    Hi Martin.
Thanks for your reply. the new element is on top of the old for comparison.
The new one does not have contacts 1b or 2b so I don’t know if I have the wrong element or what I do with the left over wires.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I don’t have the same conversion chart as you have there Dave. Is there any chance I could see the that chart in full page view?

I think you may have a ring there that has no hob hot light facility on it which would account for 2 of the wires. Will be ok to fit but the light wont work on that ring obviously. The electronic control hobs these days switch on the hob hot light after a few seconds of use regardless of the ring being actually being hot so I guess they have deleted the bi metal. I would double check you have the correct ring first.

Mark is correct, the replacement ring comes without the ‘residual heat indicator’ connections. Presumably from your photo you are fitting an EIKA in place of a Ceramaspeed. The part number should be 00674650 and the connections shown at the bottom of the page should be followed wire by wire (e.g on the L1 terminals 2a on Ceramaspeed goes onto 2 on EIKA etc)

    😀

So the wires to 1b and to 2b are removed?

That’s what it shows on your drawing there Dave. Presumably we are talking an EIKA hot plate here and the part number you can confirm for us? I would hate to be talking at cross purposes. 😉

1 b 2 b are the hob hot light wires so assuming the customer is ok with it not working then yes, I would cut back the wires to where they come form assuming they are single wires if they are paired then will need to keep the loop so the other rings hob hot light still work.
I wish those who change these sort of wiring just for the sake of it would go out in the field and see what a hassle it causes. Often old leads don’t reach their new destination or the tags need to be right angle to fit- nightmare! same goes for energy regs.

Yes an Eika replacement the same number you quoted.

Some of the wires are going to be too short alright.

Thank you both very much for your help. I’ll let you know what happens.
