    Hi,

I’ve had my Hotpoint Mistral FF72 fridge/freezer for almost ten years and never had a problem. The other day, the bulb failed and when I went to remove it, it suddenly came back on – perhaps it was just the contacts that had oxidised? This morning, however, I opened the door and the light blew together with a bit of a bang (not too much, but a bit more than a light bulb makes as far as I’m aware). The appliance had also stopped but I assumed that was because the circuit breaker had been tripped. Sure enough, the MCB had tripped so I switched everything back on expecting the appliance to be working again. Unfortunately, it didn’t work despite confirming the socket and plug fuse were both OK.

So, the appliance is dead and this includes the LCD display.

Can anyone suggest a way forwards? I’ve removed the bottom panel at the back and can see the fan and compressor but there’s nothing obvious there – the inline fuse for the fan is intact so I’m assuming there’s a control board somewhere else which may have a fuse on it – can anyone shed any light on how I find the control board? Is it behind the LCD display for example and, if so, how do I access it?

    Thanks for looking 🙂

    Regards,

    Darrin
