ParticipantOh dear! After the euphoria of last month’s successful replacement of the control module, (see previous post) the machine has failed again. This time on switching it on there was an audible ‘pop’ as the door was closed and now the ‘End’, ‘Tap’, ‘Rinse Aid’ and ‘65’ indicator lights flash continuously (that is lights1,2,4 and 6 out of 9 reading from left to right). I presume this is a fault code of some sort.
Can anyone enlighten me as to what it means? If the new control module has now failed, is this likely to have been faulty and thus replaceable under warranty or indicative of some other component failing and blowing the module?
Is it time for a new machine?
Thanks in anticipation.January 25, 2016 at 12:39 am #434757electrofix

On the previous occassion the machine died mid-cycle with, apparrently, no power. I don’t know if it went with a bang or not although on examining the control board I did notice the corner of one of the IC modules missing. No idea if this was the failure or simply a manufacturing fault.
The fault this time is completely different. As only specific indicator lights are flashing, I assume, perhaps wrongly, that this is indicating a fault code but not being alpha-numeric it is rather difficult to look up!January 26, 2016 at 9:43 am #434759electrofix

Removed the Control Board this afternoon and, as expected, it was blown; this time in fairly spectacular style! Interestingly not only had the same chip as before blown but in addition what I take to be the main CPU chip has a big hole in it!. This begs the question, have I just been unlucky and bought a defective board (it came direct from Neff and worked fine for 5 weeks) or is there something else amiss with the machine that is causing the boards to fail? Do any experts out there have a view?
I would hope that Neff will replace the board for free, but if there is something else amiss I might just as well buy a new machine.
Thank you.January 31, 2016 at 7:36 pm #434761Martin

Control boards don’t self destruct so the onus is not on Neff. Though they would never entertain any form of guarantee on the part anyway.
Primary suspects toward blowing of these boards is :-
Dispenser solenoid
Water point diverter
Circulating pump stator
Rinse Aid leaking on wiring harness
Rodent damage -
