    Hi,

I have a Bosch Exxcel freestanding upright frost free freezer GSN28V01GB/02 that is in alarm. I thought it was just that it had been turned off for a few hours and moved a little by a painter but that is not it. The alarm kept going off. All day. I chucked a thermometer in there and the temperature had risen to c.-10C. It is set to -18C. I have checked the door seal, looked good to me. I have turned it off at the wall and left it off for 5 minutes, turned it back on, but the alarm goes off within a few minutes and keeps going off and the temperature did not drop any further. I peeked in at the heat exchanger fins in the “frost free” section at the top using a torch and they were not frosted up as far as I could see, but I turned it off and opened the door and left it overnight to completely defrost just in case. This made no difference. I can hear the compressor kick in when it is turned on but then it kicks off again after a few seconds. Suggestions for next steps?

    Re: Bosch freezer in alarm

If the compressor only runs for a few seconds and clicks off it will be a faulty Compressor.

Not a cheap or DIY job.

Understood Bob, and I agree if it is the compressor itself then this is not a repair I can do, but is it possible that it is the start/run capacitor that I can see hanging off the compressor?

If it runs for a short time it is unlikely to be a capacitor or a start relay as it would not run at all if one of them had failed.
