ParticipantPremature bearing failure is a known problem with Bosch machines.
Integrated machine. 3 days short of a year old and used for 2 peoples washing so not excessive use.
Can anyone tell me if Bosch have solved this issue yet?
Are the replacement units going to last any longer?

No and no. It’s a question of numbers as the majority last long after the 2 year guarantee. And for Bosch that represents an acceptable life expectancy.
The welded tub is here to stay. If you were to perform an autopsy on that one machine you will likely find it not a failing of the mechanics but more as a result of ‘outside influences’. (Limescale, detergent, clothing fibres, human hair etc).

So what is the difference to the way a machine is used now?
Users have been doing cool/warm washes for a good few years, this machine has only been used with a quality powder not liquid and dosing according to the detergent manufacturers instructions.
It is a very hard water area but other machines in the same area have not had bearings fail (unless they are a make/model prone to bearing failure).February 18, 2016 at 8:14 am #435454Martin

Ive just checked to find that on this model the bearings can be replaced. So a nice little job for BSH and perhaps the owner can ask the engineer why exactly it failed so soon under guarantee?

Forgot to update this.
Bosch called to machine and agreed it requires bearings.
the bearings come as part of the tub rear half and was out of stock in UK and Germany so they agreed to replace machine so we are not going to find out what the cause was.March 2, 2016 at 8:23 pm #435457nomadPaul

This isn’t a machine with the known bearing problem as it’s s split tub appliance . Out of interest , did you know what the fd number is/was?

Hmmmmm…….I can’t say I’ve heard of a WIS failing so early due to bearings ? Hope it’s just one of those odd failures that sometimes happens.
