SpectatorHi all,
Had a look around so sorry if this has been mentioned before, I couldn’t find anything about it.
I’ve recently been having issues getting hold of thermostats (481228238188) for Whirlpool integrated fridge freezers. I’ve been told by a few different sources that this part has been replaced with C0031305 and have a few of those here.
Has anyone changed one of these recently using the replacement part? These are the ones where you need to pop the little orange ambient temp button out, then remove the entire inside of the housing and the thermostat goes into a plug rather than loose wires. The thermostat is held on with a metal clip rather than a thread/nut.
Basically, from what I have been told, you need to snip the plug off and connect directly with the wires, using a nut to hold the stat in place which I have no problem with. What I do have a problem with is the capillary of the thermostat is twice the length, so where is this excess supposed to go?

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. Do you have bigger images of those details? The ones above are too small to be able to make out some of the details and they look quite handy.
Anyway, I have what the manufacturer is saying is the right thermostat so that is not an issue, they are saying this is a recent change and supersedes the previous design but the capillary is twice the length of what the old one was and because of the design of the housing, there really doesn’t seem to be anywhere the excess can be placed.
I’m just curious if anyone has changed one of these recently. I find them fairly common so would expect others here to see them regularly as well.

Hi,
Many times I was in a position that can not get original spare part.Problem solved so that I get any thermostat with approximate length of the capillary tube and switching on temperature from 3.5 to 4.5 degrees. Minimal switching off temperature should be from -8 to – 15 degrees.February 25, 2016 at 10:24 pm #435738LothianDomestics

Thanks. Do you have a bigger copy of the images? I can only just make out some of the wording so not enough to actually tell what one I could use.
