I have an AEG Lavamat 72620 which has developed a fault with the water flow. One of three cogs (orange) on the top of the water ‘dispenser’ seems to have siezed up which prevents the other two turning. Removing the centre cog (white) disengages the top cog(yellow) from the orange one, allowing it to turn and so let water into the machine. Although the machine does work like this I don’t know what the orange cog is supposed to do and am worried that leaving it like this will cause further problems. I can’t seem to get any joy out of AEG so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You need to replace what is called the water distributor, essentially the top of the dispenser complete with the motor and gearing parts you mention.

It’s part number 8996454308306 @ £50.13 inc VAT and delivery.

I can get one for you if required, email me at spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk

Thanks for this Dave. Is replacing the distributor a difficult job?

Pretty straightforward really, it sounds like you’re half way there already 😉
