The fridge on my Hotpoint FFUL 1812 P fridge freezer, serial number 403143237, has stopped chilling. The freezer is fine. I first noticed some loud knocking about two weeks ago, which sounded like an air lock or something like that. The noise would end after half an hour or so. This went on for a week or more. The noise stopped happening about the same time as the fridge stopped chilling.
Please let me know if you have any ideas as to the likely cause, and solution.

Iced up fan in freezer.
Empty the fridge and freezer and turn it off.
Leave the doors open and let it fully defrost for 48 Hours then when you turn it back on it should be back to normal after 2 to 4 hours.
