    Machine will not drain out.
Found drain pump seal leaking onto the motor case.Replaced pump.
Water drains out by gravity fine, motor spins up ok,but when filled, will not drain. The tub revolves, waiting for water to go?
The motor shaft drives the pump. Is there an internal cluch or other system I`m missing?
The coupling from motor to gearbox-other end-is ok.

some machines are fitted with a smaller pump output shaft that means you have to fit an adaptor to enlarge it for the pump to work and these can wear causing drive issues

if that is not the case then there is not much left. I assume motor is turning in the right direction and the sump filter is clear at the bottom of the tub

Thanks Dave. Have just spoke to Maytag. They say this adaptor comes complete with the motor!
Looks like you can`t buy the adaptor seperately?
Will see if I have a second hd motor with a bigger shaft. What a ball ache!

Thanks Dave, will keep for future reference.
Meanwhile I found out the old pump had virtualy seized & the` top hat` was still inside the pump.Fortunately the pump female part had worn, not the top hat,so was able to re-use with the new pump.
