    Hi, i’m a newbie on here. i’ve been searching thru the mountains of info on the intenet & i’m delighted to have stumbled across your very useful & helpful site. 🙂

    we’re extending our kitchen & i’m looking for a reliable american style side by side fridge freezer with ice/water dispenser (silver/aluminium/steel colourway).

    i subscribe to Which? magazine & they’ve done a small test recently, Whirlpool, GE & Samsung came out as best buys.

    i’ve got a budget of approx £800 – so this puts Maytag/Admiral, GE pretty much out of my league (unless any helpful bods out there know where i can get any info on graded/open box, etc stock! 😀 ).

    at the moment, i think it’s going to be a Samsung RS21JLAT or Whirlpool S20DRSB33.

    have you guys got any other recommendations? or info i should be aware of?

    I’d save a bit more for the Maytag. 😉

    But given the choices I’d likely plump for the Samsung as I hear of less issues with those than Whirlpool ones, but bear in mind that Samsung’s after sales is not brilliant if anything does go wrong. 😕

    Two year warranty on the Samsung, not sure about the others. Have had very few major problems with the Samsung. 🙂

    😀 thanks for the info guys – guess i’ll just keep searching for a bargain on a Maytag for as long as i can hold out, then probably have to go & get a Samsung! 😉

    You could try CDA, http://www.cda-europe.com as their SS finished two-door is a Samsung I think. 😉

    i’ve looked at CDA, they only do one model tho & it’s aprrox £2000.00 – so a little out of my league unfortunately 🙁

    LG seem to have some decent models at fair prices – but are they only the same sort of ‘level’ as samsung tho????

    LG, almost as bad at after sales. I think it’s an Asian thing. 😉

    They have improved lately though I’m informed.

    looks like we may have extra funds available, so…..

    i know Maytag/Admiral/Amana (they are all the same but just re-badged aren’t they?? 😕 ) have been recommended up to now but what about GE?

    model PCG23S or GS. they have a Full 5 year guarantee compared to Maytag’s 2 yr for parts(?) & 5 yr other(?bit confused on this by now, i’ve read far too much info all over the place!! 😯 )

    i’ve done a search in the Refrigeration forum & there seems to be very little problems with any of these makes BUT, am slightly confused as i’ve also read that Siemens/SMEG are just re-badged Maytag & they DO seem to have had a few problems…

    as before, ALL assistance very gratefully received 😀
