I’m posting here as a last resort.. If I have to buy a new fridge it means quite a bit of work to resize the cabinet that was put in place above the fridge when we had our kitchen done.
I’ve tried to list everything I can think of below:
About 18 months ago I battled with the freezer section icing up. The threads on here helped me and in the end I replaced the temperature sensor, the thermal fuse and the defrost element beneath the freezer matrix. This solved my problem, the fortnightly defrost with a hair dryer was over and the fridge performed faultlessly until about 2 months ago.
The issue I have now is recurring more and more frequently. Initially, the freezer held its temperature and the fridge would warm up. Turning the unit off and back on a couple of times waiting 4-5mins between off and on would resolve the issue and the fridge would cool again.
As time has passed, the fridge will cool down again but to a lesser extent, no longer reaching the preset temperature and no amount of cycling it off and back on is resolving my issues.
When experiencing the issue I have taken the freezer compartment apart but have not found the matrix to be frozen up.
When turning the fridge back on, on the fridge display a number 4 is shown briefly before the panel lights up with the normal temperature settings.
Given that the freezer works and that the fan (which appears to be working fine) should circulate the cold air into the fridge, I am unsure what to do next.
I can hear the fan spin up but no cold air blows out into the fridge.
I can hear the motor running for the flap that closes the freezer from the fridge when the fridge door is open and I have previously checked this and found it worked properly. When I press the door switch you can hear this moving as it should.
Has anyone experienced this before or can you recommend someone I could talk to about it? I’m comfortable with taking the fridge apart (and I’m fairly confident I can put it back together again) but if someone can suggest what I need to swap out I would be grateful.

Today the freezer temperature started to climb so I removed the rear panel and it would appear it has reverted to it’s old ways. The whole back was frozen solid.
Does anyone have any recommendations? Defrost sensor and thermal fuse again??

You now have exactly the same fault as before so advice given before would still be pertinent
Defrost element,thermal fuse,defrost sensor,control module all possible culprits and need to be tested

Thanks melec for your input. I have swapped the defrost sensor and thermal fuse, despite the old ones testing ok (I had ordered them so I put them in). I am still having an issue with it icing up every 3-4 weeks.
On defrosting it again today I checked the thermal fuse which was fine, I tested the defrost sensor side by side with the old one in a glass of iced water and there was consistency in the readings.
The drain heater had a resistance of 0.44 kOhms and the main heater 0.21 kOhms.
Can anyone confirm if these resistances sound about right or if they point to a faulty component?
I am based in Birmingham so if anyone feels they have the magic touch and can sort this unit out please get in touch with me. I’m getting close to taking it on a little journey to the recycling centre!

Can anyone assist on this one? If you’re based in Birmingham I would be interested in understanding if you think it is repairable and if you would be able to come and have a look at it?
