    Any advice please?

Fridge Freezer bought Dec 2009, six years old. Not cooling.

    1. Compressor appears to be working (as it is making that familiar noise) but is very hot to the touch and copper pipes hot also
    2. Can hear liquid at the back being pushed around
    3. Fridge light is on
    4. Freezer fan is working but is blowing warm air
    5. Have turned temp up/down but makes no diference
    6. Have cleaned the fridge drainage hole, it seemed quite clogged up

Don’t think it is thermostat as compressor seems to be working.
Does it need a re-gas? Where has the gas gone, no leak apparent?
Is the compressor faulty? It seems to work but just doesn’t produce cold air.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks. It’s disappointing it’s only 6 years old.
Guess I have to weigh up cost of repair against new one?

From what you describe it *sounds* like the compressor has failed.

Any chance you can expand on that? It appears to be working as it makes noise. As the compressor is a sealed unit and there appears to be no leakage, it appears not to be a gas problem. Why would it work but produce no cold air?

I popped into a repair shop at lunch and they said it could be in defrost mode as maybe the fridge drainage hole/pipe was blocked (it was clogged up and I cleared it). I am going to leave it switched off for a few days, ensure the drainage pipe is clear, then turn it on and see what happens.

Sounds like it’s not pumping correctly and overheating but, without testing it, it’s impossible to be certain.
