The round fan element of my oven has gone open circuit part no 806890590/1. This is a two coil element, but I am reading that Smeg has replaced this part with a three coil element part no 806890882. I am finding both parts on the internet for sale. My question is would the three coil element be more reliable than the two. I would like the advise of a experience engineer.

What model is that for as, looks to me that they are two different element part numbers you’ve been given.

The later one you refer to is this one:

    The earlier one this one:

    http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/80689039 … en-element

Which also has a compatible available and, both the compatible and genuine can be two or three turn, it makes no difference that I am aware of in terms of durability. The fixing can also alter, there’s notes on the listing about it.

    They are fully interchangeable.
