    Hi All

I have a Bosch Logixx WTS86516GB Tumble Dryer (Condenser type). We had it for some 9 years and until now it has worked perfectly; hence, I am reluctant to give up on it without having an attempt to diagnose & see if it is economic to fix!

Symptoms: It starts OK and runs for a while (10-20 minutes), but then stops with the ‘Start/Stop’ red led flashing. When I press the ‘Start Button’ it kicks to run momentarily, (or sometimes does run for a few seconds), then the display goes off completely for a couple of seconds and then as before, stops with ‘Start/Stop’ red led flashing.

I suspect it has something to do with thermal cut-out protection, as if I leave it for a while (10-20 minutes) with the door open and then press ‘start’ it will run for longer (10-20 minutes); but, then re-exhibits the same symptoms (i.e. stops with the red ‘start/stop’ flashing led).

Unfortunately, I do not have a Service Manual to check things. I should say that I have not yet opened the back of the machine to start monitoring, as it would be great to have an expert’s opinion first of what to check and what to monitor.

(I am an Engineer by trade and familiar with using a voltmeter, so if someone could point me in the right direction I would be really grateful).

    THANK YOU in advance.
    Chris

Probably the front thermistor (aka NTC) is the culprit (part no: 00154166).

I take it the fans are clear of debris and the condenser is spotlessly clean?

Thank you Martin – that was such a quick response!

Can you recommend where to purchase a replacement Thermistor, and any guidance in how easy it is to access & replace it? [I have some difficulty tracing much on the internet by searching for ‘Bosch Logixx WTS86516GB’, I wonder if it is known by some other name].

Yes – the machine has been cleaned regularly (from the front), i.e. removing debris (at the bottom of the loading door) & keeping the condenser clean (bottom left hand side).
I assume I can get access to replace this thermistor once I remove the back panel?

Thank you so much again Martin – Chris

If you note the part number I gave then go to website shop I’m sure you’ll have no difficulty in buying a replacement. Fitting is straighforward enough with access from the front of the appliance.

Thanks Martin, Don, I have ordered a replacement part from your shop’s website.
I am pleased to learn that I can replace this thermistor easily from the front; as I have never taken the tumble dryer apart before, any guidance of how to remove the front panel, and where to locate the suspect thermistor (before I start dismantling things!).
THANK YOU again for helping me.
    Best regards
    Chris

    Hi Don, Martin

I changed the NTC Thermistor at the front of the machine but unfortunately the tumble dryer exhibits the same exact symptoms! is there another temperature thermistor/thermostat that I should try to change also? (at the back somewhere)?

    Thanks
    Chris
