    Hello,
I’m trying to help my father out who isn’t too computer savvy, below is a brief description of the fault…..

A few weeks go the light on the oven timer was occasionally cutting out and neither oven would work when this happened. Last week the light went completely and now neither oven work, although the hob does.

His electrician was doing some other domestic work and was able to check that power was reaching the cooker with the hob and ovens powered by different plug sockets. He suggested that the Solenoid may need replacing, but he wasn’t sure.

This is a built in, all gas Belling Double Cooker Model No 444447341.

Could the timer be faulty? I’ve seen these units for around £80 but wanted to ask for any advice here before ordering anything.

    Many thanks,
    Dave.

yes timer can be faulty as it controls the oven if you want it to cook when you are out

you need not replace the timer if you don’t want to but you would need to bridge it electrically so the oven would work
since we would not condone amateurs working on gas appliances I would suggest you look on this site for a suitable professional who will not only fix the problem but ensure the appliance is safe

Many thanks for your help Dave, my father was all for replacing the ovens due to this fault but I said I would help him try and diagnose the fault, a replacement timer and the labour time of a GSR engineer should be cheaper than replacing the ovens!

    Thanks,
    Dave.
