ModeratorDoes anyone know the part number of the carbon brushes and holders for this machine. Motor is a Sole type 205840970. The holders are a reddish colour.
I cannot find anything similar in the Qualtex catalogue and the last time I had a similar fault I had to replace the motor complete.

Hi, For a Sole motor I would try the CAR53 set from Qualtex catalogue.
I know the holders may look different but they should fit ok.

Just checked my stock and I already carry 97916670 carbons, these are completely different to the Sole motor carbons. Looking at the picture of CAR 53 ( Zanussi ) they do look like a possiblity, although the terminals look bigger which should not be to much of a problem, will order a set and see how it goes.
Thanks to all.

Full range of carbon brushes available at http://www.homespare.com. All brushes are listed by manufacturer of motor and by oem. Site still being built and in the middle of a major upgrade but using the keyword search you can use any part number you may have to hand.

got the Qualtex CAR53 brushes today, the screw holes and the locating lugs are in the correct place, the only slight difference is the terminal tag is a large one on the CAR 53 and a small one on the original Sole motor brushes.
I have discovered though that the brushes for the Hoptoint FHP motors can be used for this Sole motor. you have to split the FHP brush holders then remove the carbon & spring from the brass sleeve and reverse it to match the angle of the Sole brush then refit into the Sole holder, but the tags are the same size.April 6, 2005 at 9:51 pm #130604Simon46

Car 89 looks like CAR53 but 4.6mm terminals.

Cannot find CAR 89 in my slightly out of date Qualtex catalogue, tried on the Qualtex web site but no joy there either.
I have actually done two of these jobs this morning. The CAR 53 was not a good match, large terminal also comes out on the wrong side of the holder and the brush end angle is wrong way round ( but I managed ) 😉
Second job using the FHP brushes as I mentioned above was perfect .

Slightly out of date?…well out of date then as they have been around a while. The Qualtex website will only play ball if you have ‘full login’ access, then you can download their monthly up-dates.
Have a word with that very nice man who knows all the angles, non other than Mr Dave Conway. Among his many talents, he is also a Qualtex agent and may well be able to fully up-date you on their product range 😉
Qualtex did produce a brilliant “CARBON BRUSH ASSEMBLY REFERENCE MANUAL” some years back (not sure if they still do? 😕 ) That glossy manual showed schematic illustrations of only 32 different brushes units but gives a full spec on them including sizes, side, top and end elevation drawings, the full monty. That gave an easy reference to indentifying the Qualtex part number you needed 😀

They still do that manual Martin and it’s most handy, especially with counter customers who haven’t got their old one’s with them.
CAR89 is a SOLE motor brush
CAR69 is the most common one for the Performa and Quattro machines, basically the same as the various other CESET brushes of which there are four types varied by the angle of the brush and the terminal size.

Still a lot of debate over carbon brushes. All the carbons you need are on http://www.homespare.com , the only thing is that you will have to register!!
As the saying goes, You can only take the horse to the water………
All our carbons (unless specified) in holders are sandwich/laminated, meaning, a much better quality!!!
Check it out, add CAR89 in to the search or any other number like it and the right carbon will appear. Magic!!!
I wonder which website the new Connect site is modelled on?
Answers on a postcard.
