I had to replace a BER cooker hood. After removing the old one, I discovered the ducting from the top of the hood to the external vent was 100mm plastic ducting, similar to tumble dryer hose.
Apart from being a tad small at 100mm, as it’s fitted above a gas hob, does it need to be a proper metal ducting??
I’ve read and re-read the installation instructions and cannot find anything about what the ducting hose should be made from.
Anyone any ideas. What do Gas Safe Regs Say?

Nothing in the gas safe or BS standard but !! use rigid if you can as it’s quieter and cleaner and not a lot difference in cost. Must be 760mm from hob top though unless both the hob and hood manufacturer are the same and both manuals state the same. if different manufacturers then 760mm.
Min size for ducts now is 125mm and each bend equals between .5mtr & .75mtr the exit is classed as a bend.
so if the main length if duct is 4mtrs and it has 3 bends the total length would be approx 4.5 – 5.25mtrs if the hood manufacturer states max run of duct is 4mtrs then it could void the warranty.

Thanks R600a, Much appreciated. To be honest, there’s only less than 1m of ducting but it’s too small. I didn’t quote for the ducting when I priced the job. I’ve left it with the landlord the decide if he wants new ducting. I think he should but that’s up to him. I just wondered if there was any regs anywhere.
