Is there any convenient way of finding out where a Bosch (or Siemens) washing machine is made from its model name or series? I would need to be able to find out before making a purchase decision (thus I would not have physical access to the machine or knowledge of its serial no).
I heard a rumour that some of the Bosch washers are now made in Turkey, which if true makes it a bit of a risk to buy a washer from them if one does not want a Turkish washer.

There are a lot of new models coming out at the minute so it’s difficult to say where they originate from. Checking bar codes used to work but they are all now registered to Hamburg office.
I have asked Bosch on several occasions if they can help but they always say they do not know either.
When I’m back in the shop in the morning I’ll have a look as I know there is a German made machine as it does have a sticker on it giving country of manufacture but the model number eludes me at the moment.

What difference does it make whether they’re made in Poland, Turkey, Spain or Germany? A Bosch is a Bosch no matter who puts it together. I’m sure Hans in Hamburg is delighted that Mohammad in Turkey can put one of his machines together and ship it to Swaffham anyway. What’s the problem here?

I believe some of the WAW range are made in Germany. Best way to confirm this is to visit a Bosch stockist and have a look at the label on the rear of the machine at the top.

It’s called voting with your wallet. I don’t particularly mind a Polish or Spanish Bosch (in fact, I have a Spanish Bosch fridge/freezer), but I don’t want to spend my hard-earned cash in a way that contributes to the Turkish economy (and that goes beyond washing machines).
