My Electrolux EW1000i has decided to stop spinning. Machine has had light use over approx 7 years but has just stopped spinning. Have cleaned filter, removed pressure switch hose to ensure not blocked and tank is clean. The machine starts to spin up on spin cycle, gets to about 200rpm then stops and continues next phase of cycle. It’s as if it wants to spin but then being told not to. I’ve read about out of balance being an issue and it does present those symptons but it won’t spin when either empty or loaded. When loaded it stops almost as soon as it starts to spin up. Is there a separate Out of Balance sensor on these machines or is it a case of replacing the timer or control board etc? Any help much appreciated. Also apologies but I did search this problem on the forum but haven’t seen a post portraying these same symptoms.

from what I can see its the old mechanical timer with the circuit board mounted on top
fault is caused by the power supply on the board failing with age
its an easy fix for anyone with the ability to solder components onto the board
or timer can be sent away to be repaired and refitted
if you do not feel you can tackle this problem, find a local engineer from this forum and I will point him in the right direction ( of course if your local to me we can sort it )

Hi Dave, many thanks for the quick reply, sadly it looks like you’re in Merseyside which is a long way from Wokingham! If it’s a simple soldering job I’d be happy to tackle it – are you able to give me a steer on which bit(s) to replace?
