    Hi,

This machine is leaking at the union of the metal tank into the polinox (plastic) base on the left side and water enters the base causing the house electrics to trip.

He wants it to last about 6 months. Has anyone successfully sealed these joints. I was thinking of piping some silicon sealant along the cavity.

Any tips or fixes would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Laurence

I have used Bond IT HT30 heat resistant sealant, available from Connect Distribution (Part No 5045172034304) normally used for attaching oven door glass.
But make sure all the surfaces are completely dry, i normally seal side and rear.

    Hope this helps

    Thanks Mike,
I have a big tube of the SILCOSET 158 that I use for the same thing – black. You’ve just given me a bit more confidence to use it.

    Thanks, much appreciated.

Just an observation, with this problem iv’e found the heatpump because of the leak has water ingress,(ie causing the power to trip and the heater to fail) sometimes requiring a new pump.
Whatever the pump will probably need completely drying out.
