I called at my neighbours house to check her bosch WAS32466GB/14 FD 8806
The bearing were rumbling but it was still washing okay. I knew it was a big job so phoned BSH on her behalf. I gave the receptionist the part number of the bearing kit 00619809 which they had on stock at £60. They explained that the call out and labour for replacing the bearings would be £95 plus parts. I warned them to bring bearings.
Today the engineer arrived and said that if he had known the fault he would have advised her, “To not have it repaired as they do not fit just the bearings and it is a two man job and the parts were approx £200 and in his opinion an uneconomical repair”. The machine is 7 years old. He then charged the customer £95. I am not sure what they are quoting for. Is it an inner drum? It seem a bit excessive to scrap such an expensive machine. Any info appreciated.
I have advised customer to complain to BSH and hopefully get her money back.

The bearing and seal kit is £47, the drum & shaft assy is £115. BSH would never replace one without the other. It is a costly job and I would always advise BER in a case like this. For BSH to charge a £95 call out for doing f-all is however, taking the piss! 😯

We don’t replace bearing sets in plastic tubs. We replace the rear tub assembly . Depending on the severity of the failed bearing , we may also advise on a drum too.
