Hi there,
I have the above named fridge/freezer. A few days ago, I noticed we had a problem. The fridge was not cooling and the freezer was freezing and then thawing constantly.
I was told that it was the Control Board that had gone so I bought and fitted a new one. (Here is the exact part: http://www.bekospares.co.uk/fridge-freezer/ca7015ffs1-6011463819/pcb-control-board/product.pl?pid=1891288&path=110911&model_ref=648148)
However this did not fix the problem. I has also checked the fan and it is working fine. Please can anyone offer any further advice on how to fix the problem?

Far as I can tell the model uses these sensors:

Now, it could be one of those that’s messing it about as they are pretty common to be used, the boards much less so but I must stress that it could be those, I cannot tell you for sure that it will be either that’s the problem.
The reason being that the symptoms described could just as easily be indicative of a compressor problem. If the compressor is overheating it will cut out on the safety and you’d get exactly the same symptoms being presented or near enough.
Best guess it’s either the sensors or the compressor but it’s about as much as anyone will be able to tell you most likely without actually seeing it.

Thank you for your reply, I appreciate your help. I thought it could be a thermostat issue.
Is there anyway for me to troubleshoot these problems myself? I am used to working with electrics?

Very quick update, just pulled the fridge out and the compressor is hot to the touch so I suspect it could be this that is at fault.

Entirely possible that the compressor is overheating, yes.
That said, at this time of the year the are running a lot longer so they will get warmer than normal. In turn, that causes more of them to pop.
Problem is with these, it’s all too often a case of a sixth sense when you see them, you can prod and test or you’ve little choice but to swap out the sensors and hope for the best. Normally I advise starting with the sensors unless it’s patently obvious it’s not those as they’re the cheapest thing to go and, the most likely on those Beko machines.
I do think however that in your case, the compressor is a strong contender.

On further inspection, I there seems to be a partially melted heat-shield with a thick sticky tar like substance on it. I’m guessing this heat shield is there to separate the tray that sits on top of the compressor.
I think it is safe to say that it’s the compressor that is at fault however, I’m wondering I can repair the compressor or not?

Nop, compressor replacement cannot be DIY’d.
You need special tools, gas and equipment of that.

Thought as much. So basically for the cost of the part which I presume is £100+ and fitting, it might be worthwhile investing in a new fridge freezer?

Pretty much I’m afraid, yes.
Normally to replace a compressor, depending on what it is and so forth will run £150-£350 on a domestic machine, for that it’d be the lower end of that but probably not worth doing in my opinion from an economic standpoint.

Thanks for you help, may have to invest in a new machine. Is there anything I can do troubleshootingwise to see if there is anything else that may be causing the compressor to overheat?
