    Hi
I recently replaced a tired (9year old) indesit with a newer model with the one in the title. After a couple of months use I’m thinking of throwing it away. No matter what wash I use the abrasion on the clothes seems very harsh. TBH I only got the machine because I was struggling to find something 595 wide as the builders only made a gap that wide 🙁

No matter what cycle I use it seems to take years out the life of my clothes where there was no issues with my old machine. Is this because the newer machines use less water? I use powder Ariel and never spin faster than 800.

The 30 degree delicate cycle has no spin, should I try that and just select a spin afterwards?

The detergent you are using is possibly reason for caution unless it is the bleach free variety? Ariel is an excellent choice provided it is right for the fabrics you are washing and the quantity carefully measured.

Your modern Indesit, like most competitors, has a very long winded and potentially aggressive wash cycle. Again you need to ensure the correct cycle for the garment care label is selected. Spin speed is automatically adjusted for the right fabric so reducing the speed to 800rpm is not a good move. Especially if afterwards you are putting the clothes in a tumble dryer? The tumble dryer potentially could be the problem and not your washing machine. Overheating and damaging the fibres?

Indesit overall are pretty crappy machines, it has to be said. But I won’t inflict my own bias on you at this stage because you said you had little choice in buying it due to the width restrictions. I feel your pain. 😕

Thanks for the reply, I am not using a tumble drier. Should I try a liquid detergent. I am regretting buying another indesit but to be fair the last one was fantastic and did no damage to my clothes at all. I only binned it due to being pretty filty.

As I say my options are limited due to needing to be 595mm wide but I have been looking at miele machines which are 595 wide. I’m not that bothered about the budget if it doesn’t destroy my clothes! 🙂
