My washing machine tripped while I was on holidays (so it wasn’t running). When I came home, I noticed that the power button had been left pressed in. Could this have caused the problem?

It’s a Beko. Think model number is WM 5140 W – does that make sense?

Not sure what you mean by ‘it tripped whilst I was on holiday’ ??
Do you mean you came back to find the house circuit breakers had tripped and you isolated the cause as the washing machine?
Leaving any electrical appliance like this switched on when not in use is not a good idea. The door interlock on some machines is energised when the switch is on and is known to fail. Could also be the mains filter but it would just need to be plugged in for that to be the cause of the fault.
