ParticipantHi folks, ok a quick one. Just repaired the door handle thanks to this place which is great…
Now the only problem is the drier. Basically element is fine, clothes are getting very hot but not drying!
I have cleared a lot of fluff out of the condenser and the element / motor fan housing, but this did not restrict air.I had expected the drier water inlet vlave to constantly supply water but it fills approximately half a cup ever 5 minutes or so, not sure if this is normal.
Before I stick everything back together is there anything else I should check??
Thanks

Dryer water inlet is only a steady trickle, there is a plastic, gauze filter above the condensor, accessible by removing the heater box that often gets clogged up. The unofficial fix was to remove as much as possible of this filter. I always cut out and discard the small gauze windows in that filter.

I do not get a steady trickle, more like a ‘fill’ every few minutes which seems quite purposeful.
There is no filter above the condenser but there is a sort of filter at the bottom in to the drum housing proper. This was clogged and I have since cleaned. After some testing it seems to be working now! 🙂

There was a lot more in the condenser, but phone is slow to backup to google tonight so no pic yet! Maybe holding the moisture and just recirculating instead of condensing it?June 15, 2016 at 9:50 pm #438623iadom

Ah, that’s the later type of condenser, that filter would cause problems in that condition.

o/h reports it is working quite well now! Thanks for the help 🙂
BTW How often should I put the machine through a wash cycle? We use a hoover for washing and this (which was left by previous tenants) for drying if needed.
