Miele G1252 – noticed salt streaking below fill door – looking closely it appears the seal is failing between door housing and the compartment behind.

Filled salt and water is displaced between the door housing and main door.

Everything is working fine at the moment (except salt consumption) but is this a common issue ? Assume it is probably just a seal ?

Also assuming since this is a Miele that a £650 part will be required not a £1 seal !

I think that’s a Miele only part, no info on it at all so I’m afraid you’re pretty much at their mercy. 🙁

Quick update – a separate fault on this dishwasher has enabled me to resolve this staining issue.

A leaking water solenoid on the filling / regeneration loop (bore wear – new O rings made no difference) led to a replacement loop (includes solenoids, sensors etc –
about £130 delivered from Germany via Ebay UK – solenoid on its own was £70 !).

Results are outstanding – cleaning like new and no staining at all.

The regeneration resin in the old unit had large voids vs the tightly packed resin in the new unit so can only assume 10 years of heavy family use had taken its toll.

Miele part was 6216403 however there are a number of similar ones – these seem to be the same part just additional mods as the years go on.

The German translation of the name was “water enema bag” btw !
