ParticipantHi All,
I have a Ikea/Electrolux Renlig DWT 160 which has the following fault.
On selecting a program and closing the door, the discharge pump starts (and empties the ‘sump’ fine), then at the point the water turns on, no water flows and I get 3 beeps with the door closed or 3 flashes on the program end light on a 10 second cycle. From checking the manual, it quotes ‘Malfunction: the anti-flood device operates.
I take it this is either the float and micro-switch situated on the base tray of the machine which has been triggered by a leak? Or…I also seem to recall that the water fill connector (aqualock) is an aqua stop type? I disconnected the tap connection and can’t see any water inside the outer hose but I have not got to the hose trailing on the floor to the machine to check it yet.
The machine is integrated but I will drag it out tomorrow and inspect, but can anyone confirm I’m on the right lines here?

it sounds like the base is flooded
as far as i know the aqua lock hoses stop after a predetermined amount of water has flowed in one fill. so if unit does not switch off water it will stop

Today I managed to get the dishwasher out and took the side panels off. The base was filled with about half an inch of stagnant water as expected which was drained out.
Following this I tried the machine again. The alarm does not sound anymore, the program starts with the discharge pump running for about 10 seconds but then nothing when the water inlet is supposed to open. I ensured the flood float was not stuck (which it wasn’t) and tried again with no success. There is no clunk or humming from the water inlet solenoid. I metered the solenoid and get about 3 kohms so it is not O/C. I disconnected the hose at the dishwasher end and verified I have water at the valve. I unplugged the leads to the solenoid and started the machine with my multimeter set to measure AC voltage. It then goes back into flood alarm mode with the 3 beeps. Reconnecting the solenoid returns the ‘no water flowing’ condition.
I see a blue lead going straight from the flood float switch to the inlet solenoid. Is there anything else required to reset the machine or have I got a problem with the inlet solenoid and/or the float switch? Thanks in advance.

Put the dishwasher on and leave it for 5 minutes. It could possibly be carrying out a sensor check which can take up to 5 minutes meanwhile it seems to be doing nothing. It should start the program after this pause.

Hi bazza500,
Spot on 😀 I set the machine to run and came back to find it running  Now to track down and fix the leak. Update on progress to follow.

I beleive I have found the leak. A short light/yellowish coloured hose that connects the filter/sump to the intake of the circulation pump; (see in centre of attached picture). The drips of water appear near the clip. I guess I will have to place the dishwasher on its side and remove the base tray? Can someone point me to a good parts supplier? Thanks in advance.

These hoses are extremely fragile and great care has to ba taken when installing to avoid ripping them.
Also if i’m not mistaken, these hoses are not supplied separately, you will have to order a completely new base tray/sump.
I suggest you order a generic whirlpool/electrolux sump => circulation pump hose and clamp it down with fasteners.

Thanks for you replies. In the end I bought a new sump assembly from Electrolux as I did not have time to improvise separate hoses. Fitting was reasonably straightforward apart from the in-line heater detaching itself from the pipe up the back of the tub to the top spray arm and the heavy circulation pump detaching its mounting rubbers from the base. All back together now and one successful leak free test run with all the covers off (being wary of exposed electrics of course).

Replacing the sump was fiddly but not impossible. The leaking hoses are indeed integrated with the sump body as 1 unit. They seem to be made of silicon rubber and probably broke down with abrasion from the high temperature detergent laden water containing particles of food etc. The machine has experienced a few stemmed wine glass breakages (from loading) and small particles of glass were found in old sump along with bits of limescale. The new unit appears to have the hoses now in a black material and they look a bit more sturdy. I noticed the circulation pump does tend to bounce around on its mountings from the air bubbles in the water which can be seen in the transparent pipe that connects the in line heater to the top spray bar. This probably causing cavitation in the impeller/scroll case of the pump. This flexes the outlet hose noticeably on the old sump but the black hoses on the new sump seem to be more rigid in general damping this out. The discharge pump also jumps around when it starts and then ‘hunts’ for water when the machine is emptied. It hangs off the end off the other hose for support and sits on a little cylinder of foam wedged under the motor body on top of the tray on the bottom of the machine.

Hello Sexton_mallard, I have the same problem with my dishwasher. I bought a new sump and installed it. But the water is leaking out around the sump. Should it be some kind of sealing between the sump and the bottom? Now it is only 4 screws holding it and it leaks a lot. :bang:

I found the o-ring inside the machine. Now it´s in place and it the leakage stoped.
