ParticipantHi.
Please excuse me on my explanation of this problem,
I have a BEKO cda653fb/1 fridge freezer. The problem is the fridge section is freezing the food etc, with a rectangular patch of ice on the rear of the inside of the fridge
I have searched and found similar problems but with different models but the solution to those is cutting sections from the rear of the fridge and replacing thermistors but I am unable to do this due to it having a grill on the back.
In honesty unless it’s a plug and play fix I don’t think I would be comfortable doing it due to safety issues etc.
I have also noticed that my compressor is not running all of the time like others who haev this issue.
I have tested the Thermostat (what I believe to be the thermostat anyway, it’s the temperature control knob in the fridge) with a multi meter and have found the following.
I have the meter set to 200 ohms, connect the two wires to my meter and it reads OL there is no change until the control knob reaches max then I get a reading of 95.2 which to me seems like the control knob is faulty.
Would I be correct in assuming this?
I would be grateful of any assistance.
Many thanks in advance.June 29, 2016 at 7:21 am #438937kwatt

The “thermostat” isn’t one. It’s a small PCB that simply tells an electronic controller what to do, effectively a user input board only.
It will be one or both thermistors that will be the issue probably, most likely the fridge one but the usual stuff is set out here:

It’s not plug and play.

Hello K and thank you for the prompt reply.
May I ask,
I am reasonably competent at soldering so that will not be an issue, my concern is that if
I do make a mistake, the fact that the fridgefreezer is constantly on, may cause a fire risk which I don’t want due to having children in the home.
Also, I may be looking completely in the wrong area but I don’t appear to have the part shown in the thread. I have a small access panel to the rear of the F/F which houses a small pcb with some wires, the panel in where the light is and the area at the bottom rear where the compressor is. Where would be the likely location of the thermistors for this model?
And finally the thread only shows one thermistor being replaced, which one would this be?
Many thanks again for your help.June 30, 2016 at 4:15 pm #438939paulinechiv

Hi, sorry I have now done a little more digging and found that my thermistor is sealed behind the foam.
The part for sale is for a different model (CDA648FS/1, CA7015FFS, CDA539FW)
as my model is cda653fb/1, what part would I need? and is expanding foam a decent option? I would prefer to use this to ensure complete coverage.
Many thanks.July 1, 2016 at 10:27 am #438940kwatt

Sorry, for some reason I didn’t get the reply notification on this.
The mod seems to suggest that the thermistor can be swapped without digging into the foam however, I’ve not done one personally as yet.
