    Hi freezer fixers,

We’ve been experiencing icing problems with our Electrolux EN28600 fridge/freezer (925-771-737-01) for some time now. The first signs were ice ‘flowing’ from behind the evaporator cover to the base beneath the lowest freezer drawer. At some point after the first signs of icing up, the green pilot led and the fast freeze led would flash alternately. Pressing the fast freeze switch/button would cause the freezer to audibly start cooling and the stable status of the led’s would be restored for perhaps 48 hours after which they would start flashing again.

I’ve removed the evaporator cover and defrosted the freezer compartment on two occasions. The first appeared to have resolved the icing problem for about a month, then the problem returned. The second time I defrosted more thoroughly to ensure that the rear drain pipe to the evaporator tray was completely clear. That appears to have partially fixed the problem. Since then (perhaps 2 months ago) the freezer has remained ice free. However it has not stopped the recurring intermittent led flashing problem. They continue to commence flashing every couple of days.

In as much as there’s no ice build-up in the freezer, the evaporator heating element must still be working, so what might be causing the led’s to flash? Faulty evaporator thermal cut-out?

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Osy.
