ParticipantHi all,
Help needed please!
As above, we have Hotpoint HE8L493G, s/n 502182626.
Purchased March 2015.
Just done a load, came to end of cycle and door wouldn’t open, (‘Lock’ LED on). Noticed there was water inside still so assumed perhaps filter had become blocked.
Set to spin and pump out cycle but when we did this the pressure caused it to start coming out of the drain pipe off the sink U-bend pipe. Placed a bucket there. Still wouldn’t open so then unscrewd filter to drain manually which stopped water coming out drain pipe.
Loads of water came out as we expected but there was no fluff or debris, just ‘clean’ water so not as if filter was jammed with rubbish.
Machine is pumping out so drain pump working in a fashion, witnessed water pumping out into outside drain.
Any ideas, pump on way out? Could be just blocked maybe?
Barely out of warranty and this happens!!
Thanks in advance 🙂

sounds like you sink has got a blockage somewhere
if pump was a problem it would not force off pipes under your sink

Hi Dave,
Sorry forgot to say pipes didn’t come off but water came out around joins on pipe due to pressure almost.
Emptied big bucket of water down sink to see if leak persists and not a drop came out.

would not leak if pump had gone
try holding hose into the sink or to a bucket on a chair. then fill it and pump it out. if it pumps out ok then its not the machine

Back again!
Problem persists. I followed your advice and you were right the trap was full of gunk so i cleaned it out and replaced and seemed ok however last night problem returned.
I’ve just took the machine apart while unplugged of course.
I disocnnected drain pump and hoses, the drain hose was fine however i found £4.50 in coins in the sump hose! Rest of sump hose felt clear so reassembled hoses and put a test wash on.
Water went in fine, span fine, drained fine however when the programme came to ending the ‘end’ LED came on as usual and instead of unlocking 30 seconds later it proceeded to fill to half a drum then empty to a drum 1/3 full and just repeat this cycle of fill halfway then empty to a third and refill to halfway.
I’ve given up for now! No idea what to look at next? Dodgy PCB? cycle just keeps repeating itself?
