ParticipantHi all, I wonder if anyone can help me? I have owned this machine for over ten years and it has performed faultlessly. However this weekend after doing a wash which completed successfully, I have attempted to use the tumble dryer and the cycle begins but then halts showing error code E10. without the heater starting.
According to the manual the error code relates to ‘the water tap not being turned on’ This obviously is not so, as the machine had just completed a full wash cycle.
The details I have for the machine are:
Model: JLWD 1406
Type: P6858488
Serial No: 64800056
PNC: 914603102
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, Thank you! 😀

The 3 way water inlet valve will need to be replaced. (No 3 serves the condenser dryer function hence the error)

Hi Martin, thank you very much for your reply. Can you give me any idea of what this repair might cost? As this machine is ten years old I would not want to pay an exorbitant repair cost, as I could purchase an equivalent machine new from John Lewis for £500.
Indeed, is it worth paying out to repair a ten year old machine?
Your further thoughts on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again.

With labour and the part a local repairman (thats not VAT registered) could sort it for around £75 – £80 in total. 😀

Hi Martin, thank you for your prompt reply. The price you indicate is very reasonable indeed and I must say I am inclined to proceed in this way.
However my wife now informs me that there is an additional problem, in as much as before the tumble dryer stopped operating she had noticed that it no longer performed the cool down cycle at the end of drying. manifested by the fact that the laundry was still very hot when the door was opened!
May I crave your indulgence one last time and ask if you think this problem is also related to the inlet valve malfunction, or is this something different?
Thanks again for your time and patience in answering my many queries! 😳
