Hi to all, I hope you can help.
A colleague cleaned a Cata (unusual I know) standard single oven earlier. He had finished cleaning the oven and was cleaning the extractor hood when the power tripped. When he turned the power back on the oven had the following issues:
    – When nothing has been selected the red light for the thermostat is on
    – If the thermostat knob (just the thermostat knob, not the main selector switch as well) is turned on the power in the house trips.
    – If the main selector switch is turned on and then the thermostat knob is turned on, the power in the house does not trip. But if I turn the main selector switch to off (and leave the thermostat switch turned on) the power will trip.

I carry out repairs on ovens frequently (and have cleaned over 6000 ovens personally) and I’ve not come across this issue before.
Earlier I popped by the customer’s house, I removed the top and back of oven to examine the wiring and I couldn’t see anything untoward. The oven also heats up & reached temperature perfectly well (I tested with a thermometer).

The oven is a Cata, model EOSV2.

    Many thanks,
    Jack

    Re: Cata single oven tripping.

It sounds like it’s shorted in some way internally.

At a guess, selector switch or wiring possibly with moisture in it if it was cleaned with liquid.

I’ve not been inside a Cata oven nor have we access to any technical or spares info on them so I can’t really advise beyond that but, from what I’ve seen of them, they’re not exactly rocket science.

    K.
