ParticipantI couldn’t find an answer for this anywhere else. Basically, bought this washer-dryer yesterday, it’s second hand but was claimed to be all working fine. Did a full clean of it, a couple hot washes to get rid of the musty smell it had then did a wash with clothes overnight, everything fine. Woke up this morning, went to put it on a dry cycle, it spun once, went “clunk” and then stopped. I figured it was overloaded, so unplugged it to get the door open, took some clothes out and plugged it back in. Initially, the lights were just sort of flickering on and off as I was trying to get it to start the dry cycle again then the Door Locked light and Drying light started flashing. Can’t convince it to do anything now, even fill with water, even with no clothes in it. I’ve spun the drum by hand, it seems fine, but I’m by no means an expert. Checked the filter, drain pipe, basically all the bits I can reach easily. Any ideas?

The error codes on these budget, Indesit made machines are given by flashing the ‘Function’ buttons not the progress lights so that is not a recognised error code. Is the dryer timer set to a time or to off when you retry it?
Personally I would be asking for a refund, these machines do have rather suspect electronics that are very expensive to repair.

If I turn the dryer timer to off, just the Door Lock light flashes, but still no water if I try to put it on a wash cycle. Any idea what the clunk sound could have been? The drum sort of did a half-spin, clunked and then everything stopped.
Not much point in a refund, I’m afraid, I won it for £2 on eBay. On the bright side, not much lost if it can’t be fixed easily, other than not having clean clothes.

£2.00, you overpaid. 😉 🙂
The clunk could be anything, motor failure, belt failure, impossible to guess without seeing or hearing it.
The door interlock lock may have blown taking out part of the main pcb.

Weigh it in at your local scrap metal merchant. You’ll get about £4 for it, so will have made £2 profit. 😆
