Swan SDW7040 dishwasher problem, the Glass program symbol flashes, the salt light is on and the machine will not do anything except operate the pump briefly then stops.
Have tried powering off for 24 hours no change. Have tried to change program, it wont let me. We always rinse of plates so it should not be a pump clog, filters all very clean. Cannot find how to reset to see if fault has cleared, fills about an inch of water if left for any period.

We stupidly took the machine with us to France as Dishwashers are so reliable and we liked the retro look. Now Swan offer no help or guidance. This must be a simple problem but i would like some suggestions before i rip it apart.

The bigger problem that you will likely have is that there is no spares support for Swan products at all that we’ve ever managed to find. To be honest, it’s rather shocking that there’s just nothing.

We detail the position with the brand here:

    http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/help/abou … appliances

It will be made for them by someone in China most probably and likely the same machine as something else but, what we’ve no idea as we’ve got zero access to any information on them.

Not good at all and made even worse if the machine isn’t in the country of origin as there will be no support whatsoever in France I’d expect.

Which is fine and is why i need to try and fix myself before taking it to the tip. Someone must know what the flashing light could indicate before i start stripping to try a locate a problem.

Probably too late but here is the solution to your flashing glass symbol..
Its a stuck overflow valve! With the washer turned off just pull the dishwasher out and tip it back at 45 degrees and a small amount of water will come out. put it back down and turn it on. It should now be fixed.

Remove the filter, empty the machine using a mop and bucket, pour boiling water into the filter compartment and plunge it using the mop. Use a hot wash once a week at least.
