Hi… I’m hoping someone can lease help advise..

Basically LG fridge freezer.. Built in 03 .. Fridge warm , not cooling, freezer fine.

Model is No frost.. Multi airflow Gr – 359SQ.

Now at first I thought thermostat .

Stripped it out …noted it’s the type that opens and closes flap for air flow from freezer. No electric feed to it..just a probe.
The probe and tube ‘ look’ fine…though I know that’s not everything.. And, the flap was open.

I stuck the whole thing in the freezer for five mins see what happened…. The probe iced up and the flap closed…..with the flap opening when warmed.

Do I conclude from this that the probe is actually working……and that in fact it’s a fan lower down not working for some reason…or fan control perhaps ?

I’d appreciate any help as its for my aged parents and they can’t really afford a new fridge freezer..

    Thank you,
    Mike.

Thanks very much… I appreciate it..

    Hi Mike,

It does sound as if the thermistor and air damper assy are working okay.

There is a fan that will drive air up into the fridge in the free, known as an evaporator fan motor and if that’s failed then you’d get that. However, you should hear that running if it’s good and, if it’s not then the freezer temp will not be stable as it drives air around the freezer as well.

I believe there’s also a fan motor in the fridge but it’s not terribly clear.

Thank you for your reply friend. You were the only one. Out of courtesy I’m letting you know you were correct. I had already sussed it by the reply but it’s nice for you to know. Basically the fan had frozen up…got stuck with ice..once defrosted all is well again…. But thank you again for taking the time to try and help.
    Mike.
