ParticipantMy Bosch WFF2000 stops in rinse mode and leaves the prewash light flashing. It flashes in a series of 3s which apparently indicates a problem with the pump. I’ve removed the pump cover and cleaned inside. The propeller turned but with some slight resistance.
Unfortunately the machine still refuses to complete a cycle and continues to flash the prewash light. It will drain if set to one of the 3 predefined rinses which suggests that the pump works. However in the cycle it appears to wash, drains and then stalls before the rinse begins. After a minute or two it moves to the prewash position.Appreciate any help.
Many thanks.

MikeP,
Your trouble is indeed centred around the pump. It will require removal and closer inspection for coins in the pipework etc etc. If your machine is 4 years old plus, then likely the ‘magnet’ pump assembly will need replacing and also the entire drain hose system cleaned and checked.
Well worth calling in an expert

Thanks for your help Martin. What you suggest sounds expensive.
The machine is probably 6+ years old. Perhaps a new machine might be a better cost-effective option?
It’s possibly a coincidence but the washer did work fine until a plumber, investigating a leak turned it upside down, and later, while checking the machine’s behaviour, span the dials this way and that as if a clue to its problems might be found in a certain but unknown combination. I mention this wondering whether the problem could lie in the programmer. Hopefully a cheaper option!
Thanks again for your help.

Mike,
Seriously speaking a 6+ year old WFF2000 is still worth a look…Honest 🙂
Pump replacement is not that costly and the Programmer??….NO! Even from what that idiot plumber did, it should still be OK

ParticipantThanks Martin. I’ll get someone to look at it. Unfortunately, following your earlier suggestion, my postcode didn’t throw up any forum people locally.
Many thanks again.

Change the pump, job done.
They semi-seize with age.Greg

ParticipantI understand the concept of semi-seizing with age Greg, but in terms of the pump, how easy would it be to fit a new one?
I am the sort of person who puts on rubber-soled shoes to change a light bulb.

Grab the pump impellor firmly between fore finger and thumb. Waggle impellor from side to side. If any play is found, the pump bearing has failed and will cause intermittent pumping faults.
A WFF2000 is a great machine and worth saving. 🙂 -
