Hi Folks,
any help appreciated.
Bosch dishwasher working very well up until this morning.
Looks like it is not taking in (enough) water. Everything else on the cycle looks like it is working – water heating , drainage..etc.
From the labels in the machine:
Type: S6R288 or S6R28B
SMI 2022
I’d like to work out the problem first before having to call in the experts.

Regret numbers supplied incorrect – cannot access Bosch files. Please recheck for numbers engraved into top inner edge of door,or label on top edge of casing.

There is a small white label on top edge of tub:

Usually the hose from the meter tank to the sump gets blocked on these. The floor tray may also be flooded as that same meter tank overflows onto the metal tray underneath and cuts off the water valve.

Personally I would suggest you get an expert in to service the machine and get it back to it’s usual excellent form. Attempting repairs without a clue as to what to look for is asking for trouble. We may have an expert in your area, click on the link below 😉

Hi Martin,
Apologies for not replying yesterday we were away from the house.
I tried the link but no-one in my area.
Could you possibly provide a bit more detail on where to locate the hose from the meter tank and what I’d need to do to access it.
One other thing I noticed today is that when I remove the filter in the bottom of the machine there is still some water left there – is this normal ?
I’ll follow your advice to disconnect the machine from the mains before doing anything.

But you need to take the left hand side panel off and clean out the black rubber hose at the base of the metering tank.
FOR GOODNESS SAKE…DO PULL THAT PLUG FIRST OK???? :zap:

Hi
left side now off and black hose disconnected. Some crud came out but not a lot.
The tank it was connected to looks like it is bone dry.
When I was tilting the dishwasher forward water was coming out on to the floor.
Does it still sound like the black hose is blocked?
I tried to clean it by squeezing it along its length – it looks like it might be tricky to disconnect it at both ends.

Just been trying a piece of coax cable (ends smoothed off). It goes in for just over a foot – would you expect it to go further.
Trying to avoid disconnecting the other end.

You would be best advised to remove the hose and flush it out properly. It also makes it easier to clean out the spigots where the hose connects.

I’ve had to put the machine away for tonight – hopefully get another go at this tomorrow night.
Looks like getting at the other end of the hose is tricky – can you recommend the best way to get at it – removal of another panel perhaps.
I’m curious now as to how this operates. Looking at the tank the hose is connected to, there is a hinged bit of plastic at the top which looks like it trips a switch when the tank fills up. What is the purpose of this switch.
From what Martin was saying it looks like the hose is blocked and as a result the overflow on the tank is letting the excess water into the floor tray which is operating the water cut off.

The water enters the top of the chamber and fills the large compartment. When this has filled, the water will syphon up and over into the chamber with the hinged bucket. This stops the flow of water, which runs along your black hose and into the sump of the machine. The timer allows this to happen three times before continuing the programme. Any blockage in in the bottom hose can cause the water to back up in the fill chamber and overflow into the undertray, which will eventually operate the floatswitch and over-ride the programme.
To fully detach the bottom hose you will have to remove the undertray.

Thanks Penguin45 I think I see what is going on.
This maybe explains why the tank the hose is connected to is bone dry. From what you’re saying the switch should get triggered once the main tank has filled and the overflow starts going into the bottom tank.
The program then stops the water coming in and the water in the bottom tank drains into the sump.

Hi Folks,
bottom of machine now off and black hose cleaned out.
There was not a lot of crud – I would have expected more if it had been blocked up. When I push the coax through it ends up in the bottom of the dishwater where the removable filter is to catch larger pieces of food…etc. This was also clear.
I would have expected a lot of crud if the hose was blocked – do you think the machine will now work?
Is there anything else I could be looking at now that the bottom is off?
I spotted the float device on the bottom of the machine and now see how this cuts off water supply.
Another observation is where you add in salt. Looking at this container from under the machine, one side of it contains brown looking water – could this be a symptom of the problem. There is an open hose coming from this – looks like it may be an overflow straight into the base.

No, everything you mentioned seems normal enough now :tup:
With the side panel off and observing the machine, what happens?..Is it operating OK now or what, only, you didn’t actually say 😕
