My america fridge freezer, Whirlpool 8596, has a water filter housing that is leaking but I am unable to withdraw it from the front of the fridge due to its fixing bosses situated behind the bottom front lip.

Can anyone advise if it is necessary to withdraw it from the rear. The difficulty is that it is situated behind the fan assembly and not possible to ease out. I wondered if the Solonoid assemble need to be removed as well.

Would it be easirer to cut a wide secion of the front lip and then rivet a new lip on after fitting a new housing.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

That isn’t the model number, looks like the first four digits of a 12NC number.

Most of the guys will need the full model and/or PNC to look it up.

They are the same accross the whole model range.
It comes out via the back after removing the water valve and drip tray

If you are happy with the quality of your tap water you can bypass the filter by taking the filter tube out and connecting directly into the water valve inlet.

    Thanks guys.
    Model number given is 8586 460 15000 and also WSC 555 A+X.

I will try to remove water valve and get at the filter housing. I do not believe in the rip off water filter (water treatment eng.) and if I bypass it can I permanantly cancel the alarm?

    Regards
