I need to replace the module on my Hotpoint WD420. Can someone tell me what is the exact Module No. – there seems to be so many. Also is it quite a simple job to fit myself or would I need to call in a specialist.

Why bother? It is covered by a 5 years parts warranty….Just give Hotpoint a bell, save the hastle my friend. Besides if the Module has failed it is likely the motor or other component has caused it to fail, they don’t go of their own accord you must realise 😉

Part number is 1604583 at £105.00 ex VAT and carriage if you really want to know 😉

Best bet is call Hotpoint, as Martin says they will only charge the call/labour fee.

One of my customers just got a quote from Hotpoint for doing the drum bearings on a WMA30 : £120. I don’t know if they charge extra for remote locations as we are a bit off the beaten track here.

I have had several customers that I have referred back to Hotpoint for drum repairs tell me they have been quoted that amount in the past few months.

    Are they now 😕

    From their own website:

    UK Charges

    * Home visit, including a free estimate and diagnosis – £34.99
    * If you wish to proceed with the repair, the additional labour charge will be fixed at £54.99* plus parts where applicable and will include a free health check for your appliance.
    * All parts for Hotpoint, Cannon and Indesit Evolution appliances under 5 years old are now free of charge when fitted by our own engineers.
    * *The labour rate for London is £59.99.

I don’t notice anywhere any mention of additional charges for longer than average jobs.

I make it £89.98 or £94.98 for London. No Mention of VAT to be added either.

Anyone esle being quoted higher prices than stated ?

    Dave.

Whats wrong with the module??? and why are you trying to fix it yourself?
These appliances haven’t been out a year yet so it will be covered under your
first year parts and labour warranty. Call hotpoint out.
