LG D1453WF dishwasher. Serial no:- 303KWXD2V050.

Wasn’t relishing looking at one of these – but I still stupidly still did – there’s a lesson in there somewhere….. :rolls:
Machine was tripping the electrics on wash. Metered out everything I could see and finally got to the heater; metered it and showing less than 1meg. so ordered and fitted a new heater. Stayed long enough to see it heat right up with no problems.
Got an email back today to say trips at 13 mins and when the power was restored, got a PF (power failure) code; to be expected I suppose!
What else can trip in these odd machines apart from the heater or the motor – but the motor has a ten year warranty? Anyone had any experience with these LG dishwashers that can shed some light on possible issues?

    Thanks in advance,

    Steve.

Turned out to be nothing wrong with the dishwasher itself! (even after I had it back in the workshop with 2 RCDs in line and all was perfect for 3 straight days of continuous use).

I returned the machine and it threw their trip inside 3 minutes of starting and just as the motor was ramping up to speed so I put it down to the house domestic supply. Customer got an electrician to test the wiring and he concluded the induction motor when it’s starting up causes a 50Hz pulsing that can in some cases throw a sensitive RCD without disturbing the MCB directly supplying the machine. Seems to be an uncommon but known issue!!???

Well I’ve either been living in a cave or now believing in fairies and Santa as I’ve never heard of such an issue with induction motors with inverter boards causing any such fault with RCDs.

Anyone aware of this anomaly? Or is this not just another ‘technological advancement’ that moves one step forwards to take four backwards?

    Steve.
