    I have a smeg dwf 64.1 ss dishwasher which gets stuck half way through the wash program and just goes on and on washing in steaming hot water forever. I switched it on one evening and it was still washing the next morning. I suspect the main program control dial needs changing but could it be something else. This machine does not have any fancy led’s or other fault detecting devices. Can anybody help? I rang Smeg for advice but they politely said that they do not provide any technical advice, although they are very happy to sell me spare parts.

    Most likely some sort of thermostat failure Marc – the programmer “holds” until the thermostat clicks over and completes the advance circuit.

    If you’re not sure how to proceed, check Repairs@ or Directories for a UKW engineer in your area.

    If you are going to investigate further, pull the plug first.
