ParticipantHi everyone,
I have a LIEBHERR CNES 3866 fridge freezer.
Service number: 0974506-02
Appliance number: 22.076.474.4The alarm has gone berzerk – it bleeps randomly and intermittently and it’s driving us up the wall! It seems to be a freezer issue as the temperate of the freezer fluctuates wildly between about -8 and -16 but never seems to reach -18.
This issue started about a week ago but has been getting significantly worse over the last few days. Occasionally an F4 error code flashes, indicating a Freezer compartment evaporator sensor issue.
We tried switching it off, defrosting, clearing the ice from the back of the freezer and switching on again but to no avail.
Before purchasing a spare part I wanted to be sure I was ordering the right one. I’ve found about 4 different variations of sensor on this site and I don’t know which is the right one:

In the freezer it’s an air sensor, not an evap one I can see.
It alters to this one:

Thank you for your swift response kwatt.
Annoyingly, I thought I’d found the right part before reading your post. From similar questions in the forum, I thought it was THIS part: (9590148)
https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/9590148 … ure-sensorWhat do you think? If you’re certain of the 9590142 part I’ll order that one.

The one I gave you is 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} correct of that service number, no doubt about it whatsoever.

perfect – thanks K you’re a star.
One last question: something I can do myself or something I’ll need to get an engineer in to do?
I have no background in electrics. Basic DIY skills only!

Hi guys, F4 relates to a freezer evaporator sensor fault. The part number you mention is correct.
The 9590142 sensor kit replaced the 9590148 but that itself has been changed to a 9590206 now, although the 142 kit will work perfectly.

You’ve been so helpful – thanks Eldar59, really appreciate it.
Is it something that I can replace myself?

Whilst not exactly being rocket science, replacing the evaporator sensor could be a little tricky for an enthusiastic amateur – no offense meant!
The sensor comes into the freezer compartment at the top left hand side, looking in from the front.
The cable runs down the side of the evaporator and the head of the sensor locates at the bottom of the evaporator.
The 142 sensor kit necessitates the old sensor head to be cut off the cable and the new cable and sensor head to be joined (outside the cabinet) and then routed through the hole in the cabinet, down the side of the evaporator before locating the sensor head at the bottom of the evaporator, approximately halfway across.October 11, 2016 at 8:35 am #441674ukpoppet

thanks Eldar59 – better get an electrician I suppose – or a specialised engineer…

Where are you based? Have you tried the engineer search on this site?

You need the service number to be 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure as there’s probably many versions of the model, finding that is explained here:

No.
There are two in that unit, both now changed to the same kit, this one:

Does this mean I have to purchase two (2) kits ?
Thank you
