We have a (relatively) new Indesit IWSC 61251 washing machine that is only about 2 &1/2 years old which, since Saturday 8th October, is making a very loud buzzing noise every time the pump starts up.

The pump itself seems to be working just fine as it pushes out the water with no problem & the clothes are no wetter it seems than before the sound started.

The sound seems to come from the control panel & only starts when the pump kicks in. When the pump stops the sound stops. Other than that the machine seems to be working as it has always done since we bought it.

The first thing that occurred to me was that something had gotten into the pump filter so I took out the filter but found it was clear, no buttons, coins, hair clips, nothing at all & this was the first time I’ve taken it out in the 2 1/2 years we’ve had it. Today I did the same again &, as I expected, I found nothing in it.

Can anyone help? Do you think a new control panel might fix the problem? Might it be dangerous for the m/c to continue to use it while it’s making such a din?

Thank you in advance for any help you might be able to give us. 🙂

No. Usually all this is a faulty pump. There is something not right with the cylinder magnet within the pump/ something wrapped around the pump`s impellor e.g. hair band OR the pumps 4 screws that hold it on to the chassis behind the plinth are loose, which is possible though unlikely OR the plinth isn`t clipped in properly and vibrates.
