ParticipantAs posted- how do I get to the oven element. I’d suggest this is what’s failed. Last time on, we had a RCD trip( on house mains) ,with now a failure of the oven to heat. Everything else works.

The fan element is replaced via the front by removing the fan cover at the rear of the cavity.

Meant to add ( looking at safety thermostats item ) ,that everything else ( grill /display panel etc) still works and failure was after element etc tripped out RCD .

SITE- thanks for all the help- parts arrived yesterday, and oven is now working again.Just in time for the annual Xmas cake rush. Swimbo is relieved as she does not have to use the convection function on the microwave. Bouquets to the ones who helped me get it working ,and also to the parts blokes who found and sent out the parts.
One problem however- in the past ,despite the oven being level and true , cakes do tend to rise unevenly. Any tips ?October 21, 2016 at 9:42 pm #441819Martin

1: Baking at too high a heat setting.
2: Air circulation restricted (i.e oversized baking sheets or use of baking foil.

My reward was a fruit cake ( is she telling me something?) today, and it was perfect. Oven is level both ways, so I’d suggest that last element on way out was a possible fault. Now for the Xmas cakes.

In spite of having to use a Zanussi and not a Neff ‘slide ‘n hide’ we have another ‘Star Baker’ it seems. :tup:

Martin, despite coming from the North Riding, Swimbo cannot get Yorkshire puds to rise, so I get that task. But of late ,till element went bang, I noticed that those on the lower shelves cooked faster ( though uneven) ,than those higher up, and the element gave out at the top of it’s circle. Certainly not down to uneven mix as I treat the mix as a football supporter from the wrong end of Glasgow.i.e it gets well battered. 😈

Coming from the south of god’s own county myself, it is always tragic to learn of a fellow Yorkshireman suffering puds that won’t rise. It just shouldn’t be. I don’t wish to flour over the issue or throw water over the technique but clearly if there was ever a case to blame ones tools then this is surely the time.
As you know, our batter mix should go into a very hot oven. And with the element on its way out that was never gonna happen. But the good news is, you’ve sorted in now (yah!) and your ideal starter to a Sunday Roast is a perfect as ever. A’up lad! 😀

Martin, going OT, ( from oven fixing) ,in our house it’s a case of Jocks and Smoggies. However my Smoggie can make a lovely Mutton pie ( AKA SCOTCH pie, ), and I attend to the Puds, so all is well . With Puds, they’re like like southerners, they turn out best when they’ve been given a decent battering.
