ParticipantI have a Daewoo FR-4501K and I think the Thermostat is shot
I have have taken off the dial and console where the light is and can see the wire for the thermostat running up into the inside of the fridge polystyrene. How do I access the thermostat to test it? or change it?
ThanksOctober 22, 2016 at 7:16 pm #442076SAMURI

The thermostat fits to the dial, the wire you can see senses the temperature and feeds into a small tube in the insulation.
You need to test the thermostat across the electrical terminals on the stat to see if is making a circuit.
The metal wire you can see just pulls out but test the stat first before you pull the wire out and make sure the new stat when you fit it the wire gets fully pushed in the same length as the old one.
Go carefully pushing the wire back in as if you bend or break the wire you will loose the gas in the wire and the stat is then no good.
If the appliance is not cooling check to see if the compressor is hot.
If it is hot and running then it will be the compressor or gas.
If it is cold and not running it is most likely the stat as this is a basic model.
Make sure it is unplugged from the mains when testing or fitting a new stat.

Thanks Samuri
The dial is connected to like a PCB board and the wires are running up into the fridge.
I have taken some photos. Can I post photos on here?October 22, 2016 at 7:47 pm #442078SAMURI

This must be an updated model then it will not have a thermostat and it will be controlled buy the main pcb and a sensor.
You can post a picture if you like and it will help if you can describe the fault you have
Is the compressor running ? , Is it running not cooling or is it the fridge or freezer or both not working ?

The compressor is running
The freezer is freezing up and the fridge is cool but not cold

It has a main PCB on top and a red led.
How do you test for the codes. I pressed the SW1 S/Time button and the LED is blinking 3x pauses then 3x then pauses then 3x. This continues and when I hold the SW1 S/Time button it blinks 1x and pauses then 1x and pausesOctober 23, 2016 at 1:07 pm #442081SAMURI

Have you checked to see if the evaporator or vents to the fridge are iced up.

Yes the evaporator gets iced up and only the top vent inside the fridge (closest to the top freezer) gets iced up as well and the fridge isn’t cold. The control panel in the freezer to adjust the temp also gets stuck with ice

It will not be a pcb fault.
If the vent is iced up then the fridge will not get cold.
Carry out a full defrost first turn off for l48 hours with the doors open.
When you turn it back on after a few hours the fridge will be cold again.
If the problem returns if it is white frost only near the top then it may be low on refrigerant or you have a defrost heater or defrost sensor fault.
If it does not cool in the fridge after a defrost then it may be a faulty fan motor.
